Role of the Learner
It is essential in any classroom that a student not be passive in their learning. While, teachers must engage students, the students themselves must think critically about their interests and apply themselves to the development and furthering of their personal goals. Getting satisfactory grades is not the goal of the student, instead, the goal is to understand oneself and to find significance in all the disciplines covered in relation to ones personal interests.
Students are also responsible for asking questions. Questioning the instructor, in a positive and open environment, is critical to success in school. Students will be asked to challenge their own as well as one another's ideas about curricular concepts as well as personal ideas. Ultimately, keeping an open mind and having respect for their fellow learners, their teachers and themselves will set students up for success in the classroom.
